Passion flooded though her body. She moved away, exhausted. He lay still too, motionless by her side. She smiled to herself; she had told herself that she could make it work. Hugging the duvet close to her body, her heart rate began to slow to its normal pace. When they’d met she’d known he was the one.

He had been prefect. He had deserved everything. Every movement of his body against hers had been bliss. Even when it ended she was content. Her memories of him were bliss, every moment leading up to this had passed as if they were planned to lead to this, not that she hadn’t intended this to be the outcome.

She could not tell any one of course, they would never understand. They would judge her and shun her away again.

Seconds before it had happened she had felt her body shake with ripples of anticipation. Now she was calm and quite. She breathed in deeply, savouring his smell. His hair had fallen away from his face leaving those tempting angel lips to call to her.

Sitting up she placed the knife on the bedside table and proceeded to walk to the sink where she washed her hands, watching the crimson water flow away. She turned the tap off, the silence thrilled her. Not a breath murmured to disturb her. He had deserved everything.

The Hunter’s Kiss

Prologue

Once upon a time, the society was one in which men prevailed. The males lived within cities and towns, in dry, comfortable houses varying in style and splendour. Females had been banished long ago into the leafy recesses of the woods and glades of the countryside. It was there that women built villages and dwellings around nature, incorporating it into their religions, medical care and schooling. They began to forget their industrial routes, and embraced a simpler and less destructive way of life. They took only what was necessary and replaced what was removed.

Men controlled all society, being then the only sex in the government and the only sex allowed to vote, it was impossible to pass laws that released women in the accepted society, giving her rights.

Women would not have sought after acceptance if it were not for one tendency of man. Sport has been and always will tend to be a great passion of men, as with that of lust. To combine these two cardinal desires they devised an entertainment in which they could not loose. This sport was common place among men. They were brought up with the skills of the blade, bow and dagger, these all being vital components to play the game.

The sport was this. To hunt, with what ever weapons preferred, to ensnare a woman, to hold her so she either accepted defeat or would die against their sword. This was the bane of females all over the land. Men took to this sport, using it to collect many women. For it was uncommon and looked down upon for men to be monogamous. Numerous men had over five women.

Each woman would be tattooed with her owner’s insignia. So, if she fled from him and reached the woods, and then was recaptured by another man, he can return her to her owner. Lest he himself be accused of treachery.

It was common place to see groups men with a cart leave the town, upon the road which is headed for the woods. Upon return the cart would be laden with shackled women. These women would cry out and clutch at each other, lamenting their fate. For when the cart pulled into market they would be sold at market reaching high prices. Men enjoyed being able to chose with out fear or rejection. Men were also lazy; they bought women from these hunters to save unnecessary movement.

About ten to twenty of these women would be kept by the hunters; they would live in small, confined quarters in the cellar of the hunter’s dwellings. The hunter would, at night take these women to inns and rent them to local men and travellers. This would give the men a trial of the goods on offer before purchase. Some hunters would dress the women in fine and fashionable attire, others would leave them clothed as they were when they found them, but others took a different approach with let men browse. Hunters would also keep women for themselves and their own sport.

Society had remained this way for many centuries now. It had become the accepted norm by even women. From an infant, women were told of their inequalities and what to expect in later life. They were taught self defence to a high degree, this was necessary should they want to stay unchained. Alas this would not prevent apprehension in many cases as the men were in possession of advanced weaponry and skills.
